Is this New Age or Gnostic?
There are many "restoration" groups claiming a "return to Torah", and many of these groups take names such
as "Netzarim", "Nazrim", "Essene", etc., but the original Hebrew speaking Essenes, still in existence to
this day, are not affiliated with any of these fake groups in any manner whatsoever.
While the Essenes do not condemn these groups, we are adamantly opposed to all forms of missionary tactics
used by some of them and find it most offensive to our very own Tradition.
Don't be fooled by fake groups claiming to promulgate "Netzarim Judaism" or "Essene Church of Jerusalem"
internet groups. Often these groups claim to be "restoring" the "lost" teachings of Yeshua or "Yahoshua".
The teachings of Messiah and His true Essenes (Heb. "Nesarim", "Chassidim", Aram. "Nasraya") have never been
lost. You can't restore something that was never lost in the first place.
The fake "Netzarim" and fake
"Essenes" oftentimes teach New Age or gnostic doctrines and have a mixture of "Messianic Judaism" and Kabbala in
their religion which amounts to idolatry and is against the teachings of the Messiah!
These kinds of groups are all over the internet and are misleading both Jews and gentiles in believing
their lies. Don't be fooled! God's People do not believe in or practice any type of New Age or gnostic religion.
The word "gnosticism" comes from the Greek word "gnosis" which can be translated as
"knowledge". This deals with a so-called "secret knowledge." According to one dictionary it is
"a religious orientation advocating gnosis as the way to release a person's spiritual element" and is
considered to be a heresy by the Assembly of Jerusalem.
Many "New Age" groups such as certain fraternal orders and confraternities consider
"gnosticism" to be a "more enlightened form of Christianity", but again, the Temple of Alhym
considers this to be heresy.
Oftentimes enemies of Our Lord claim that the Assembly is "gnostic" or connected with some
sort of "Masonic" or "Freemason" organization. This could not be further from the truth
however. The Assembly sees the religious practices of all gnostic and Masonic organizations
to be outside of Orthodoxy and the Assembly does not encourage its members to participate
in their functions, and especially does the Assembly forbid its members to become members
of such organizations that promote gnosticism or from confraternities that promulgate
some sort of Masonic heresy.
